AVOHK – Athletic Veterans of Hong Kong

The AVOHK - adidas 5K series

* New race added for the 2010 series

This series, previously known as the Ladies and Vets Series, is now open to all runners over the age of 12. Each 5km course has been accurately measured . Races one and three are hilly whilst races two and four are flat.

Race 1 August 28th 16.30 Tai Tam Tuk, Island South
Start and finish on Tai Tam Reservoir Road about 400 metres from barrier. Out and back course with small loop at turn by Tai Tam Upper Reservoir.

Race 2 September 11th 16.30 Bowen Road
Start and finish on Bowen Road at junction with Bowen Drive. Run 2.5km out then turn and run back . Turn is about 400 metres before the Stubbs Road end of Bowen Road .

Race 3 September 25th 16.30 Wanchai Gap Playground
Start and finish on Middle Gap Road next to Wanchai Gap Playground. Route heads uphill on Middle Gap Road and continues for about 1.5km before turning left onto HK trail towards Blacks Link. Towards end of trail run up about 40 steps and then turn right onto Blacks Link. Run slightly uphill towards turnaround for about 450 metres. Turn and stay on Blacks Link all the way to finish. Last 1km downhill. Start finish map

Race 4 October 2nd 16.30 South Bay

Start/finish at the end of South Bay road, runs along South Bay road passing Middle Bay, turns left down to Beach Bay road at the first junction, runs along Beach Bay road of Repulse Bay to the end of of the beach, returns and runs the same route back to South Bay.

Men's and Women's categories for prizes There is a junior category 12 to 16, an open category 17 to 34 and then 5 year age groups from 35. Series prizes for best 3 of 4 races. Result of South Bay race to decide winners in the event of a tie. AVOHK-adidas 5KM souvenir tee shirt to those who run three or more races. T shirt awarded at South Bay.
